I’m Ken Young and I am presently serving as Fire Chief for Wexford Volunteer Fire Co. I have lived in Wexford most of my life.
I am a life member of the fire company. I joined in 1972 as a junior member. I became interested at that time because my father was a member. I have served in many different capacities over the years. It is challenging to learn the proper use of all of the different types of equipment that we use and to train and prepare for the many different situations that we respond to.We not only respond to fires, but accidents, rescues, tress down, gas leaks and alarm calls, to name a few.As Fire Chief, I am responsible for everyone on the fire ground and I take that responsibility very seriously. I try to always update the technology of the fire company to keep our firefighters safe and provide the best service possible to the community.
I have certification in Vehicle Rescue, TrenchRrescue, Arson Detection Level I & II, Incident Command, Company Officer Development, HazMat, Cold Water Survival and Ice Rescue, First Responder, , Structural Fire Rescue, Firefigher Level I, Flashover Simulator, Dive Rescue, NAUI Diver and others. I am very proud of our fire company and our members. The training and skills that they have acquired and continue to obtain show the dedication and motivation of every one of our members. It is an honor to be a member of this fire company and serve as Fire Chief.
