January Recap

For the fire call volume, January came in like a lamb and out like a lion. We ended the month with 35 calls with 13 occurring over the last four days of the month. Five of those called occurred on January 31 including an assist with a structure fire in Richland Township, off of Bakerstown Road. Firefighters had to fight dangerously low temperatures in addition to the fire. The blaze was contained without injuries to residents or firefighters. For training, members spent time indoors reviewing operation of gas metering equipment for carbon monoxide and natural gas leak investigations, as well as incident size up drills for various types of buildings in Pine Township. We are also proud to report that Firefighter Joe Kunz attained his Eagle Scout Badge. Joe’s Eagle Scout project involved constructing a roof simulator prop for practicing roof top ventilation activities as well as some other firefighting techniques.
