June Wexford VFC Recap
Calls
June was an active month for our members as Allegheny County move to green status. We responded to 44 calls. The leading type of call was automatic fire alarms, followed by motor vehicle crashes. A couple of storm events generated some related storm damage calls.
Training
Members continued in-house training drills with a focus on getting the various types of fire streams we use into operation in a quick and efficient manner. Ever wonder how an untrained volunteer becomes a firefighter? Check out this video from the Allegheny County Fire Academy on how our members become trained firefighters and continue their training and education.
Community Support
The community has continued to be very supportive through various donations from food, to money to hand sanitizer. We are very thankful for everyone’s support.
Fund Drive Reminder
We have had great returns on our annual fund mail fund drive. This is an important source of revenue that accounts for approximately 20 percent of our annual general fund budget. For all those who have already provided donations, we thank you very much!
We have had some questions from people who have already donated and ended up receiving a second notice for a mail fund drive. This happens for a couple of reasons. If you mailed your payment a few months after receiving the first donation request letter, then it likely wasn’t credited before the second mailing went out. If you donate through Paypal on our website or a service like United Way, those payments are not able to be tracked by the company that managed our fund drive. In all cases, your donations do go to our general fund no matter which way you choose to donate. We apologize for any confusion.
