Community Outreach
The Township of Pine Community Day returns this year on Saturday, July 17 from 4 pm until fireworks after 9:30 pm. We will be at the event, assisting as we do each year, however, we’re excited to announce that this year we will have our home fire sprinkler demonstration as part of the day’s activities. Come see how fast a fire can develop in a furnished room, and learn the immense value of smoke alarms and home fire sprinklers. You’ll get to see two fires. The first will be in a furnished room without a fire sprinkler that will be extinguished with a fire hose. The second burn will be in a furnished room with a fire sprinkler. You’ll see how fast the fire sprinkler responds to prevent a more dangerous fire and limit damage to the room. It is an eye-opening experience for the value of fire safety and the consideration of living in a home with fire sprinklers. Follow us on Facebook for more details on the time of the presentation.
Training
Sixteen members started the PA Department of Health Emergency Medical Responder class in June. Ten members are taking the class at our station through CCAC and six are attending the class through Butler County Community College. This medical training will allow us to provide a higher level of patient care at incidents involving motor vehicle crashes and other rescue situations. We will also be able to assist the EMS system with other serious medical emergencies that occur in the community. Stay tuned for more details!
