May Recap
May was an active month for calls and training. We responded to 50 calls throughout the month. There were many calls due the stormy and wet weather, especially as the result of the hail storm that passed through part of Pine Township on May 28. Members of the Wexford VFC joined members of the Marshall Township VFD for a structural burn training session at the Butler County Community College on May 18. Participants responded to multiple training burns at the school’s burn building to simulate responses to actual building fires. The two companies also started a vehicle rescue training class that is being hosted at our main station. As part of the class, participants learn patient access and extrication techniques for vehicles that have been in a crash. As the technology in motor vehicle design changes on a rapid basis, staying current with the changes and related rescue techniques is vital to providing effective service for these type of emergencies.
