Readiness to Respond During COVID-19
The Wexford Volunteer Fire Company is committed to providing vital fire and rescue services throughout this COVID-19 pandemic situation. Here is a list of our current actions to ensure that we can continue to provide a high level of service to the community:
-Our stations are closed to visitors. Public education and community appearances are canceled while the Governor’s stay at home order is in place.
-Stations are receiving daily cleaning, especially for frequently touched surfaces. Members are observing social distancing practices.
-We have obtained a supply of N95 masks, glasses, and nitrile gloves that should be adequate for our current volume of calls. Like everyone else, hand sanitizer has been hard to find, but we have made contact with a local supplier working to provide donations to emergency responders.
-For incident responses that involve actions that are more of a service or investigative nature, we are taking protective measures through the use of personal protective equipment, limiting the number of personnel that enters buildings, and maintaining distancing.
-Our college students that are home have helped increase our live-in ranks. We also have a considerable contingent of members available to respond from home. Having all these members available has helped provide well-staffed responses.
-Requests from seniors, disabled, or immunocompromised residents for assistance in obtaining necessities, as well as individuals or groups that are interested in volunteering to help those in need, can be directed to the Township of Pine at 724-625-1591.
We encourage everyone to follow the stay at home order and guidance of Federal, state, and local health authorities. We’re all in this together!
