September Recap
September was another active month for fire calls with 49. The most common type of call was automatic fire alarms with over ten responses. The highlight for month included our open house on September 29. We estimate that about 50 people turned out over the two hour event. Activities included a fire safety education trailer, fire extinguisher training, and various equipment demonstrations. The open house event featured a live fire demonstration of a room with a fire sprinkler vs. a room without one (pictured above). Through the demonstration, participants witnessed the speed at which a fire develops in modern furnishing. They also saw the value of good fire safety practices such as working smoke alarms and sleeping with bedrooms doors closed. For the room with a fire sprinkler, participants got to see how fast a fire can be contained to provide time for occupants to escape a fire. We appreciate everyone’s time in coming out to learn about fire safety and more about our organization. Coming up for this month is our growing Kids Halloween Party and Costume Contest on October 27, 6:30pm at our North Chapel station. Stay tuned for details.
